MSU Women's Gymnastics Welcomes New Assistant

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Thomas Holloway has been named the new Michigan State assistant women's gymnastics coach it was announced on August 25. Gary Ehrman, who was a full-time assistant last season, became a part owner of Great Lakes Gymnastics where he will work as the club team coach. He will also stay on with the Spartans as a volunteer coach.
"Tom Holloway will make a great addition to the coaching staff at MSU," said Spartan head coach Kathie Klages. "He brings with him many years of experience in coaching club gymnastics and, due to his success on that level, is well-known throughout the region which will aid in our recruiting efforts. Tom brings a fresh outlook, a new attitude, and a high level of excitement that is needed in our program. We welcome his addition to the MSU gymnastics coaching staff."
Holloway comes to Michigan State from Gymnastiks Unlimited in Grandville, Mich., where he was the team director and head coach, directing and overseeing a team of 100 gymnasts. He was named Michigan Male Coach of the Year in 1993.
From 1988 to 1990, Holloway served as the assistant coach at Central Michigan University. Prior to CMU, he was the head coach at Union High School in Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1987-88 and the assistant coach at West Catholic High School (Grand Rapids), from 1985-86. Holloway also served as a gymnastics coach at Alpine Gymnastics Club in Grand Rapids from 1984-88. He has contributed time at the Kentwood Community Church in Kentwood since 1998, serving as a youth coach in a middle school outreach program.
Holloway graduated from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids with a bachelor of science in education in 1998. Previously he obtained as associate's degree in elementary education from Grand Rapids Community College in 1988. He has served as a Michigan U.S.A. Gymnastics board member as a Level 8 representative since 1994.
