Men's Soccer Falls to Third-Ranked Indiana

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Behind a trio of goals, third-ranked Indiana defeated the Michigan State men's soccer team 3-0 this afternoon at Old College Field on the MSU Campus.
The Hoosiers opened the scoring, as sophomore midfielder Matt Fundenberger scored a short goal from the middle of the box at the 12:18 mark. Later, senior fullback Gino DiGuardi drove to score at the 33:00 plateau. Lazo Alavanja was credited with the assist.
Freshman fullback Tyler Hawley capped off the gameis scoring by connecting on a short goal at 53:15. "The only way we were going to win today was by playing our A-game," said MSU coach Joe Baum. "We didn't play our A-game."
Junior goalkeeper T.J. Lieckfelt tallied three saves, for the Spartans, who fell to 5-3 overall (1-1 Big Ten). The Hoosiers, number one in this week's Great Lakes Region Poll, improve to 7-1 (1-0 Big Ten).
