Hecht Earns Big Ten Nod as Gymnast of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior gymnast Carolyn Hecht is the Big Ten Conferences womens gymnastics Athlete of the Week.
Hecht, a native of Baltimore, Md., won the all-around at the Spartan Invitational on Feb. 13 with a season-high score of 39.175. She also won the balance beam with a meet-high score of 9.925 and tied for first on the floor exercise (9.850). Hechts all-around score was ninth-best in school history and her beam score tied for second-best in the MSU annals. She leads the team with averages of 38.825 in the all-around, 9.658 on the uneven bars and 9.854 on the beam.
Earlier in the season (1/31) Hecht tied her career best on the uneven bars at 9.925, tied for the second-best mark in MSU history. She boasts the teams top scores on the all-around (39.175), bars (9.925), beam (9.925) and is tied for tops on the floor with a 9.850.
The Spartans have this week off before traveling to Durham, N.H., for the Fox Run Invitational on Feb. 27, featuring New Hampshire, Texas Womans and Ball State.
