Diving Solid At Notre Dame

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women?s diving team dominated the 1-meter diving events with three top-10 finishes at the Notre Dame Invitational last weekend, Dec. 2-4.
Sophomore Carly Weiden (Kentwood, Mich.) scored 394.40 points for a first-place finish. Sophomore Summer Mitchell (Troy, Mich.) followed Weiden with a second-place finish (386.50). Freshman Stephanie Anisko (Mississauga, Ontario) also placed in the top 10 with a seventh-place finish (330.20).
Weiden, Mitchell and Anisko also qualified for the NCAA Diving Regionals in the 3-meter with their performances at Notre Dame. Weiden led the Spartans in the 3-meter dives with 500.30 points. Mitchell scored 493.00 points to finish fourth. Right behind Mitchell was Anisko, who placed fifth with 431.50 points. The Diving Regionals will be held March 10-11 at a site to be determined.
The Spartans? men?s diving team came out strong at the Notre Dame Invitational with solid performances from freshman Nick Visscher (Holland, Mich.) and junior Philip Hillary (Fremont, Mich.).
Hillary led the Spartans in the 1-meter dives (425.05) with a fourth-place finish. Visscher followed Hillary with a fifth-place finish, scoring 424.30 points. Senior Casey Guntzviller (Wixom, Mich.) and sophomore Mike McKee (Sterling Heights, Mich.) finished seventh and ninth, respectively.
Visscher led the Spartans in the 3-meter dives with a fourth-place finish (448.00). McKee, Hillary and Guntzviller finished seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.
