Grapplers Compete In Midlands Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Six members of the Michigan State wrestling team posted victories in the first round of the Midlands Championships today in Evanston, Ill. No team scores are being kept.
Freshman Charles Sageman (141 pounds), junior Cory Posey (149), senior Greg Degrand (165), senior Will Hill (174), freshman John Wechter (174) and junior Matt Lamb (HWT) each won at least one match before being knocked out of the championship bracket.
Also taking part in the Midlands are sophomore Chris Williams (125), junior Mike Castillo (141), freshman Karl Nadolsky (149), junior Chris Tyler (157), freshman Gray Maynard (157), freshman Alec Kowalewski (157), freshman Scott Owen (174), junior James Brimm (184) and junior Joe Cotant (184).
All Spartans are now wrestling through the consolation brackets and have a chance to finish as high as third in their individual weight classes. Consolation action will resume Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m.
