Seven Spartan Grapplers Ranked In Top 20

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State wrestling team boasts seven individuals ranked among the top 20 in their weight class in the latest InterMat Wrestling poll, released Wednesday.
Senior Nick Muzashvili (Unadilla, N.Y./Republic of Georgia) continues to hold down the No. 1 ranking at 197 pounds, a position he has held since the beginning of the season. Fellow senior Will Hill (Commonwealth, Ind.) climbs to No. 5 at 184, while senior Greg DeGrand (Ann Arbor, Mich.) jumps to No. 7 at 165. Junior Pat McNamara (Jordan, Minn.), yet to wrestle due to pre-season shoulder surgery, remains the No. 3 wrestler at 133.
Redshirt freshman Gray Maynard (Las Vegas, Nev.) continues the strong start to his college career with a No. 13 ranking at 157, making him one of only 10 freshmen in the country to garner a top 20 ranking. Junior Corey Posey (Columbia, Tenn.) enters the InterMat poll for the first time this season with a No. 19 ranking at 149, while freshman Chris Williams (Fowlerville, Mich.) also enters the top 20 this week, ranking 20th at 125.
The Spartans, who have yet to compete in a dual meet this season, remain the No. 7 team according to InterMat. The Big Ten continues to be the toughest wrestling conference in the nation, as Iowa (No. 2), Minnesota (No. 5), Illinois (No. 6), Michigan (No. 8), Wisconsin (No. 17), Ohio State (No. 22) and Purdue (No. 25) all rank among the top 25 teams.
