Big Ten Men's Soccer Championship At MSU

East Lansing, MI - Michigan State University will host the ninth annual Big Ten Men's Soccer Championship, Nov. 12-14. The tournament will be played at Old College Field. The winner of the tournament receives the Big Ten's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. MSU last hosted the conference championship in 1995. Here is a short preview of the tournament:
No. 1 Seed - Indiana Hoosiers
Indiana wrapped up its sixth regular season Big Ten title in nine years in 1999. The Hoosiers went undefeated (5-0) in Big Ten play for the fourth consecutive year and head into East Lansing looking for their fifth straight Big Ten Tournament Championship. IU, ranked No. 3 in the nation, is 14-3 overall.
No. 2 Seed - Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State finished the regular season with a record of 11-7, 3-2 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes earned a bye and the second seed in the Big Ten Tournament by way of a tiebreaker, as it defeated Penn State (who also had a 3-2 mark) earlier in the season, 1-0.
No. 3 Seed - Penn State Nittany Lions
Ranked in the top 10 in the nation the entire season, Penn State comes into the Big Ten Tournament ranked fifth in the country. The Nittany Lions finished the regular season with mark of 15-2-1, 3-2 in conference play.
No. 4 Seed - Northwestern Wildcats
The Northwestern Wildcats come into the Big Ten Tournament with its highest seed and best conference record ever (5-13 overall, 2-3 Big Ten). The Wildcats started out slow this season, but have won its last three contests heading into East Lansing.
No. 5 Seed - Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin comes into East Lansing with an overall record of 6-12-1. The Badgers are 1-4 in Big Ten play, with their lone Big Ten victory coming against Michigan State.
No. 6 Seed - Michigan State Spartans
Michigan State heads into the Big Ten Tournament with a 1-4 mark in conference play, 9-8-1 overall. The Spartans defeated second-seeded Ohio State for its lone Big Ten win of the year.
