Four Spartans Win Titles At MSU Open

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State wrestling team claimed four individual championships Sunday in the MSU Open at Jenison Field House, while eight other Spartans finished in the top eight of their weight class. No team scores were kept.
Leading the way for MSU was senior Will Hill, who won the 184-pound weight class and was named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. Hill outscored his opponents by a 72-20 margin in compiling a 5-0 record over two days.
Freshman Karl Nadolsky won the first tournament of his college career with a 5-0 mark and a victory in the 149-pound championship match, while No. 1-ranked Nick Muzashvili went 3-0 to claim the title in the 197-pound weight class. Junior Matt Lamb closed the day by winning the heavyweight championship with his fifth victory of the weekend.
Michigan State also got a pair of third-place finishes from sophomore Chris Williams at 125 pounds and junior Mike Castillo at 141 pounds.
Also placing for Spartans were: freshman Charles Sageman (7th, 141), freshman John Wechter (5th, 174), freshman Nathaniel Mesyn (8th, 174), freshman Scott Owen (4th, 184), sophomore Gabe Zientek (5th, 184), and junior James Brimm (7th, 184).
MSU returns to the mat Dec. 5 when they travel to State College, Pa., for the Penn State Open. Michigan State returns home to open the dual meet season on Dec. 10 against the rival Michigan Wolverines.
