Michigan State Women's Swim Team Defeats Eastern, 156-87

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women?s swimming and diving team defeated Eastern Michigan 156-87, Saturday, Nov. 13.
Freshman Summer Mitchell (Troy, Mich.) dominated the diving events, finishing first in both the 1- and 3-meter dives.
The Spartans captured first place in both relay events. Junior Andrea Stewart (Trenton, Mich.), sophomore Lisa Clouse (Newaygo, Mich.), freshman Deb Hollon (Calisle, Pa.) and sophomore Heather Wing swam the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:37.80. Freshman Katie Duncombe (Erie, Pa.), grad student Catrin Lenfers (Hildesheim, Germany), Stewart, and senior Dianne Oliver (Ann Arbor, Mich.) finished first in the 400 medley relay (3:56.00).
Junior Jutta Renner (Germany) took first in the 500 freestyle and second in the 200 freestyle. Sophomore Ashby Baldock (Talahassee, Fla.) finished first in the 200 backstroke. With a time of 2:24.51, Lenfers placed first in the 200 breaststroke. Sophomore Ildiko Szekely (Budapest, Hungary) won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.39.
The Michigan State men?s swimming and diving team will be in action again on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 17-18, at the World Cup Series in Maryland. Spartan men?s swimmer John Munley will be representing the U.S. in the World Cup meet in Edmonton Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19-20.
