Wrestling Set To Host MSU Open

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State wrestling team will begin the 1999-2000 tournament season this weekend by hosting the MSU Open at Jenison Field House.
More than 20 teams and 200 wrestlers are expected for the two-day event, which gets underway Saturday at 10 a.m. Saturday?s second session will begin at 6 p.m. The semi-final and consolation final round will start at 10 a.m. Sunday, with the championship finals slated for 1 p.m.
Among the teams scheduled to compete are No. 11 Michigan and 14th-ranked Central Michigan, as well as Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Northwestern.
MSU returns two wrestlers who won their weight class at the 1998 MSU Open, Corey Posey at 157 pounds and Greg DeGrand at 165 pounds, as well as seven other wrestlers who placed in the top eight at last season's tournament.
The Spartans start the 1999-2000 season ranked No. 7 by Intermat Wrestling, with six individuals ranked in the top 20 in their weight class.
