Women's Swimming Claims Third At Northwestern Relays

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women?s swimming team finished third out of six teams Sunday, Oct. 31, at the Northwestern Relays in Evanston, Ill. The Spartans earned 164 points, just two points behind second-place Indiana University. Northwestern held first with 220 points.
The Spartans produced five second-place finishes in the 11 events: the 200-yard medley relay, the 300 backstroke, the 300 breaststroke, the 400 medley relay and the 1,500 free.
Freshman Katie Duncombe (Erie, Pa.), senior Catrin Lenfers (Hildesheim, Germany), junior Andrea Stewart (Trenton, Mich.) and senior Dianne Oliver (Louisville, Ky.) each were part of two Michigan State third-place relays, the 200-yard medley relay and the 400 medley relay.
Six other Michigan State relays earned third-place finishes: the 200 freestyle, the 300 butterfly, the 800 freestyle, the 500 freestyle, the 400 medley relay, and the 400 freestyle.
