Men's Swimming Takes Second At Northwestern Relays

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men?s swimming team earned 172 points, winning two events en route to a second-place finish at the Northwestern Relays this afternoon in Evanston, Ill. Northwestern finished first in the five-team field with 212 points.
In the 11-event relay competition, the Spartans earned first-place finishes in the 800-yard freestyle relay and the 1,500 free. The Spartans took second-place finishes in the 400-yard freestyle, 400 medley relay and the 500 free.
Freshman Joe Brennan (Poway, Calif.), sophomore Scott Shafer (Centerville, Va.) and junior John Munley (Kalamazoo, Mich.) each were a part of the two relay teams that earned victories for MSU. Sophomore Aaron Mahaney (Easton, Pa.) also played a role in the 800 freestyle relay victory.
