EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State closes out its Big Ten regular season with a loss to Northwestern, 1-0, at Evanston, Ill. on Friday afternoon. MSU?s record falls to 5-9-3 overall (3-6-1 Big Ten), while Northwestern improves to 2-12-1 overall (1-8-1 Big Ten).
Senior Christie Molitor scored the game-winning goal for the Wildcats less than nine minutes into overtime, helping Northwestern earn its first conference win of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman (Farmington) recorded four saves for the Spartans, while junior Erin Ekeberg had three stops for the Wildcats.
The Spartans return to East Lansing to face the Broncos of Western Michigan on Sunday, October 24 at noon.
