Michigan State Women's Crew Hosts Head Of The Grand

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's crew hosted the Head of the Grand Saturday, Oct. 16 on Lansing's Grand River.
Michigan State was victorious in three out of its four races against Grand Valley State University. MSU's top varsity eight boat was victorious over GVSU by 30 seconds. The top varsity four boat finished 24 seconds ahead of Grand Valley's top boat.
MSU Head coach Bebe Bryans said, ?The race served its purpose, which was to get down the course competitively and to get ready for our race in Boston next week. I am really pleased with the strength and depth we?re showing this early on in the season.? In the novice eight competition, the Spartans' top boat was victorious in flight one with a time of 12:44.
MSU assistant/novice coach Matt Weise said, ?I think it was a good starting point for the novice rowers. Most of the boats achieved the goals they set earlier this morning, and most of the rowers were in their first race.?
Michigan State returns to action next Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass.
