Robyn Fralick recently completed her third season as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Michigan State University, where she has led the Spartans to one of the most successful stretches in program history. A proven program builder, Fralick is a two-time National Coach of the Year with a 259–104 (.713) career record, ranking her as the 22nd winningest active NCAA Division I women’s basketball coach by career win percentage.
Since arriving in East Lansing on March 31, 2023, she has guided MSU to a 67–28 (.705) overall record and a 34–20 (.630) Big Ten mark, including three straight 21+ win seasons and three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths for the first time in 12 years.
Her impact was immediate in 2023–24, as Michigan State posted its most overall (22) and Big Ten wins (12) in eight seasons and finished fourth in the conference after six-straight years outside the top seven. The Spartans followed with another 22-win season in 2024–25, capped by the program’s first NCAA Tournament win in six years. In 2025–26, Fralick guided MSU to its most single-season wins (23) in a decade and its first season appearing in the national top-25 rankings every week in 14 years.
Fralick has developed nine All-Big Ten selections and coached 2026 WNBA Draft 39th overall pick Grace VanSlooten. Her teams have also been among the nation’s most efficient offensively, ranking 6th nationally in 2023–24, 18th in 2024–25, and 11th in 2025–26. Off the court, she has signed two nationally ranked top-25 recruiting classes. Her leadership and reputation were further recognized in 2026 when she was named an Assistant Coach for the USA Women’s U18 National Team.
Prior to MSU, Fralick spent five seasons as head coach at Bowling Green (2018–2023), where she rebuilt the program into a championship contender. She led BGSU to an 88–73 (.547) record, three postseason appearances, and the 2020–21 MAC Regular Season Championship, earning MAC Coach of the Year honors after engineering the nation’s largest single-season turnaround (+11 wins). Her 2022–23 team tied the program record with 31 wins and advanced to the WNIT Fab Four, while ranking 21st nationally in scoring offense.
Fralick’s coaching foundation was built at Ashland University, where she authored one of the most dominant runs in NCAA history. From 2015–2018, she posted a 104–3 (.972) record, the highest winning percentage in NCAA history (minimum 100 games), won the 2016–17 NCAA Division II National Championship, reached two national title games, and led the program to an NCAA Division II record 73-game winning streak. A two-time WBCA Division II National Coach of the Year, she was inducted into the Ashland University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.
Before taking over the Ashland program, Fralick spent seven seasons as an assistant coach (2008–2015), helping the Eagles to six winning seasons, two GLIAC titles, and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2012–13 NCAA Division II National Championship. Her earlier coaching stops include Toledo (2007–08), Western Michigan (2005–07), and Appalachian State (2004–05).
A 2004 graduate of Davidson College, Fralick earned her degree in psychology with a minor in religion and finished her career ranked among the program’s all-time leaders in assists (4th), steals (8th), and free-throw percentage (12th). She later earned her master’s degree in counselor education from Western Michigan in 2007.
An Okemos, Michigan native, Fralick (Flewelling) was a standout multi-sport athlete and earned second-team all-state honors in basketball before being inducted into the Okemos High School Hall of Fame in 2017.
Robyn and her husband, Tim, have two children, Will and Clara.
