Matt Jackson

Matt Jackson joined the MSU volleyball staff as an assistant coach in June 2025. He enters his second season at MSU in 2026.
In 2025, his first season as a collegiate volleyball coach, Jackson helped the Spartans to the most wins in a season since 2017 with an 18-12 overall record, including a perfect 10-0 mark in non-conference play. The Spartans earned their first sweep against a ranked opponent since 2017 with a 3-0 win against No. 20 Indiana and swept Michigan in East Lansing for the first time since 2015. MSU also posted its best team hitting efficiency (.222), kills per set (12.83), assists per set (11.99) and service aces per set (1.71) since 2017.
Jackson arrived in East Lansing after serving as a club coach at Winter Park Volleyball Club in Winter Park, Florida, since 2014. At WPVC, Jackson worked as a head coach for players between the ages of 12 and 18 and also worked as WPVC’s lead mentor, leading a group of 25 mentors.
Since 2023, Jackson has served as the program lead at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida, coaching both the varsity and freshman volleyball teams.
Jackson, who hails from Ococee, Florida, holds VertiMax and USA Volleyball IMPACT certifications. He graduated from the University of Central Florida in December 2018 with a degree in sport and exercise science and was a setter on UCF’s club volleyball team.Â
