Josh Robinson is in his first year at Michigan State in 2026 as an assistant special teams coordinator. He will work directly under Spartan special teams coordinator LeVar Woods.
Robinson spent the previous two seasons (2024-25) as the special teams coordinator at Northern Arizona. During his time at NAU, he worked with punter Ben D’Aquila, who led the FCS in punting in 2025 with a school-record 48.7-yard average and earned first-team AP All-America honors and first-team All-Big Sky accolades. D’Aquila also set the school record for best career punting average (47.8). The Lumberjacks led the Big Sky and ranked 10th in the FBS in kickoff returns (24.2-yard avg.) and 16th in the FCS in net punting (39.7).
In 2024, Robinson coached a trio of specialists – D'Aquila (punter), Sean Farfan (long snapper) and Isaiah Eastman (punt returner) – to All-Big Sky honorable mention honors. D'Aquila, who was also semifinalist for the Augusta Sports Council's FCS Punter of the Year award, led the Big Sky in punt average at 46.7 yards and his efforts helped NAU rank sixth in the FCS in net punting at 42.0 yards. Eastman ranked 13th nationally with 11.4 yards per punt return and also garnered honorable mention all-league honors again in 2025.
Robinson was a special teams analyst at Oregon during the 2023 season as the Ducks went 12-2, won the Fiesta Bowl over Liberty, and finished ranked No. 6 in the AP Poll. The Ducks led the Pac-12 and ranked eighth in the FBS in net punting (42.7).
Prior to working at Oregon, Robinson spent two seasons with Toledo as a quality control coach working with special teams. Robinson was an offensive graduate assistant at Ole Miss in 2017. He spent the spring of 2017 as a quality control coach at Louisiana-Monroe.
Â
Robinson was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and grew up in Bellville, Texas. He earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology at Sam Houston State in 2016. While at Sam Houston, he served as a student assistant coach from 2013-16.
