Michigan State Athletics Announces Extension With WJR 760 AM

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Athletics has announced a five-year extension with WJR 760 AM, continuing WJR as the Detroit flagship station of the Spartan Media Network through the 2030-31 season.
WJR has served as Michigan State's Detroit flagship station for Michigan State football and men's basketball since 2006.
MSU Athletics will have expanded coverage with the new agreement, including broadcasts of games and shows from hockey and women's basketball. The enhanced partnership also includes a digital broadcast of the Tailgate Show on home Spartan football game days. In addition, specialty MSU Alumni programming will be determined at a later date.
"For two decades, WJR has been proud to serve as the radio home of Michigan State Athletics, bringing Spartan fans every moment of our long-standing coverage of football and men's basketball," said Steve Finateri, Regional Vice President & Market Manager, Cumulus Media. "We're thrilled to extend this partnership and expand our commitment to Spartan athletics by adding women's basketball and hockey broadcasts. This renewed agreement allows us to share even more of the passion, tradition, and excellence that define Michigan State with fans across Michigan and beyond."

Coverage of Michigan State's season opener against Toledo on Friday, Sept. 4 will begin on WJR with the Tailgate Show from 5-6:30 p.m., followed by the 90-minute Spartan Media Network pregame show leading into the 8 p.m. kick at Spartan Stadium.
WJR and the entire Spartan Media Network will also have live coverage of the Pat Fitzgerald Show during the 2026 season, which will air on Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. (please note: the show will air on Tuesday when MSU plays on Friday).
Prior to the 2006 agreement that has now lasted for 20 consecutive years, WJR previously served as MSU's flagship station for 14 years, from 1963 to 1976.
