This Week In Spartan Athletics – April 28
Here's a look at the week ahead (April 28-May 4) for Michigan State Athletics:
Men's Tennis
For the third straight season, Michigan State men's tennis will be a part of the of the NCAA Championships. The Spartans open play Friday against North Carolina at 11 a.m. in Columbia, South Carolina. Should the Spartans advance, they will face the winner of the Richmond/South Carolina match on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Baseball
For what is believed to be the first time in program history, Michigan State welcomes the No. 1 team in the country to Jeff Ishbia Field at McLane Stadium. MSU hosts top-ranked UCLA in a three-game series, beginning with a 6:02 p.m. contest on Friday. Saturday's game starts at 3:32 p.m. and first pitch on Sunday is at 12:02 p.m.
Softball
The Spartans wrap up the regular season Friday through Sunday as they host Michigan at Secchia Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, with Sunday's home finale starting at noon. The MSU senior class will be honored at Sunday's contest.
Men's Golf
Michigan State opens the postseason Friday at the Big Ten Championships. The tournament is being held at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Oregon.
Track & Field
Michigan State will compete Friday and Saturday at the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by Ohio State in Columbus. It's the final tune-up before the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in two weeks (May 15-17).
Rowing
Michigan State rowing will compete Saturday at the 17th Annual Dale England Cup at Lake Lemon, just outside of Bloomington, Indiana. The Spartans will race against crews from Indiana and Tulsa. It's the final competition before the Big Ten Championships on May 16 and 17.
