Jeremy Fears Jr. Selected to John R. Wooden Award® All-America Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men's basketball redshirt sophomore guard Jeremy Fears Jr. was one of 10 players selected to the John R. Wooden Award® All-America Team, announced on Tuesday night on ESPN2.
The Wooden Award All-American Team is comprised of 10 student athletes who were the top vote-getters in the quest to earn college basketball's most prestigious honor. The 10-player team, alphabetically, consists of: Darius Acuff Jr. (Arkansas); Cameron Boozer (Duke); AJ Dybansta (BYU); Fears; Kingston Flemings (Houston); Joshua Jefferson (Iowa State); Yaxel Lendeborg (Michigan); Braden Smith (Purdue); JT Toppin (Texas Tech) and Keaton Wagler (Illinois). The five finalists for the 2020 John R. Wooden Award Presented are: Acuff, Boozer, Dybansta, Lendeborg and Smith.
This is the fifth All-American honor for Fears, who was named a Second Team All-American by the Associated Press last week and earned third team honors from The Sporting News, the United States Basketball Writers Association and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
One of the team's captains, Fears led Michigan State in scoring with 15.2 points per game (No. 18 in the Big Ten Conference) and in assists, with 9.4 per game, which not only ranked first in the Big Ten but is No. 1 in the country. He is third in the Big Ten in free throw percentage (88.5%) and second in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.86).
He is the only player in the country averaging at least 15.0 points and 9.0 assists per game.
Nationally, Fears leads the country in assists per game (9.4), is second in total assists (328), fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.86) and ranks No. 33 in free throw percentage (89.0%).
He handed out 13 assists in the Big Ten Tournament against UCLA, breaking the Michigan State school record of 291 set by Cassius Winston in 2018-19. Fears finished the season with a school-record 328 assists and his 9.4 per game average is also a Michigan State record.
Fears becomes Michigan State's first Wooden Award All-American since Cassius Winston 2019-20, when he earned consensus All-American honors from the NCAA for the second-straight year.
Michigan State finished the 2025-26 season with a 27-8 overall record, including a 15-5 record in the Big Ten Conference. The Spartans earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 17th time under Head Coach Tom Izzo.
