The WBCA Next Generation Institute is a high-level education program for experienced assistant coaches who aspire to become collegiate head coaches. She joins Latara King from Washington and Abby Sharp from Iowa as Big Ten coaches participating.
Smith is in her first season at Michigan State. The native of Missouri City, Texas spent four seasons at Lamar from 2020-2024. She helped lead the Lady Cardinals to back-to-back winning seasons during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
A 2010 graduate of Colorado, Smith scored 1,138 career points and left Boulder as the individual season (82) and career record holder (257) for 3-pointers scored.
