This Week In Spartan Athletics – February 17
Here's a look at the week ahead (February 17-23) for Michigan State Athletics:
Men's Basketball
No. 15 Michigan State hosts a pair of home games at the Breslin Center this week. The action starts Tuesday as the Spartans play UCLA at 8:30 p.m. (Peacock). Sunday, MSU welcomes Ohio State to East Lansing for a 1 p.m. contest (CBS).
Women's Basketball
No. 18 Michigan State opens the week with a Wednesday home game against Northwestern (6:30 p.m.). Sunday night, the Spartans are at No. 23 Minnesota for the final road game of the season. The game will be televised on FS1 (6 p.m.).
Hockey
No. 1 Michigan State hosts Notre Dame Thursday and Friday at Ron Mason Rink at Munn Ice Arena. Both games will be televised by Big Ten Network, with a 7:30 start on Thursday and a 6 p.m. puck drop on Friday.
Baseball
After winning two of three at No. 8 Louisville in the opening series of the season, Michigan State heads south again for a three-game series at No. 3 Texas. The Spartans play in Austin on Friday night, followed by Saturday and Sunday afternoon contests.
Softball
Michigan State is scheduled to play five contests this weekend at the Purple & Gold Challenge at LSU. The Spartans, receiving votes in the national polls, will play Louisiana-Lafayette and LSU. Saturday, MSU faces Howard and a second game against LSU. The weekend concludes with a Sunday contest vs. Howard.
Track & Field
Michigan State track & field gets its final tune up for the Big Ten Indoor Championships with a pair of competitions this weekend. Friday, members of the team compete at the Silverston Invitational in Ann Arbor. Saturday, team members will be in action at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend.
Women's Tennis
The Spartans are at home for a pair of weekend duals. Friday, Michigan State will host Toledo at 5 p.m. at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center. Sunday, the Spartans will host Dartmouth at noon.
Wrestling
Michigan State hosts Central Michigan Friday at 7 p.m. in the final dual of the season. The Spartan senior class will be honored Friday night.
Women's Gymnastics
No. 11 Michigan State hosts No. 21 Ohio State Saturday at 6 p.m. at Jenison Field House. Fans can receive complimentary admission by donating new fuzzy socks, drink tumblers, tea, unscented lotion, lip balm, or lemon candy as part of the Spartan Strength Kits Donation Drive.
Men's Tennis
Michigan State takes a short drive to Kalamazoo to face Western Michigan on Sunday. The Spartans and Broncos get started at 1 p.m.
Men's Golf
Play continues for the Spartans through Wednesday in the Watersound Invitational at Sharks Tooth Golf Course in Panama City Beach, Florida.
