Spartans Finish Sixth at Canadian Collegiate Invitational

East Lansing, Mich – The Michigan State men's golf team earned a tie for sixth place in the 11-team field at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, held at Öviinbyrd Golf Club in Muskoka, Ontario.
Notre Dame led throughout, capturing the team title with a dominant 35-under par 829. Michigan secured second at 25-under par 839, followed by Missouri (13-under par 851), Rutgers (11-under par 853) and UNCW (9-under par 855) rounding out the top five. The Spartans carded an even-par 864 (287-287-290).
Senior Caleb Bond led the way for Michigan State, firing a 7-under par 209 to finish tied for 10th place. Bond now has two top-10 finishes in just three starts to begin the 2025 fall campaign.
Junior Lorenzo Pinili tied for 23rd at 1-over par 217, opening the event with a 1-under par 71—his fifth round under par in eight rounds this season. Pinili also recorded his first eagle of the year during the final round on the par-4, 432-yard third hole.
Junior McCoy Biagioli tied for 29th with a 3-over par 219, highlighted by 12 birdies across the three rounds.
Graduate student Ashton McCulloch placed tied for 32nd with a 5-over par 221, including a non-individual playing season-best 1-under par 71 in the second round.
With a 1-under par 71 in round two, freshman Connor Fox joined the rest of the Spartan lineup with at least one under-par round at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational. Fox shot a 11-over par 227 for the event, finishing him in a tie for 46th place. Closing out the event in round three on hole 18, a 537-yard par-5, Fox recorded the first eagle of his collegiate career.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Juan Velasquez carded a 6-over par 222. Velasquez joined Pinili and Fox in recording an eagle, doing so in the opening round on the par-4, 327-yard 10th hole.
Michigan State now turns its attention to the Windom Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern at Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill. The event will mark MSU's fifth all-time appearance at the tournament, with its first coming in 2018.
