Men’s Golf State Finishes in Seventh Place at Folds of Honor Collegiate

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's men's golf team posted its best round of the tournament and finished in seventh place among 15 teams at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, being played at American Dunes Golf Club (par 71, 7,183 yards) in Grand Haven, Mich.
The Spartans shot a 2-over par 286, the team's best of three rounds this week and tied for the fourth-best team round of the day.
MSU finished in seventh place with a three-round total of 17-over par 869 (290-299-286).
Alabama won the event at 5-under par 847 (285-280-282), with Notre Dame second at 1-over par 852, followed by Cincinnati and Kansas in third place at 11-over par 863 and Cal rounded out the top-five teams 12-over par 864.
Senior Caleb Bond led Michigan State, finishing in sixth place at even-par 213 (71-70-72), closing with a 1-over par 72 on Wednesday. Bond was tied for eighth in the field with 10 birdies during the tournament.
Junior Lorenzo Pinili fired a team-best 1-under par 70 on Wednesday and tied for 11th place at 2-over par 215 (70-75-70). Pinili finished seventh in the field with 37 pars.
Graduate Ashton McCulloch shot a 1-over par 72 in the third round and tied for 25th place at 6-over par 219 (75-72-72). He closed with back-to-back rounds of 1-over par 72, respectively. McCulloch was second among all golfers in the field with 39 pars.
Junior Lucas Acevedo tied for 48th place with a score of 12-over par 225 (77-76-72), with a personal-best 1-over par in the third round counting toward the team total. Acevedo was one of only five players to record an eagle during the tournament, finishing with a three on the par-5, 563-yard sixth hole on Wednesday afternoon, and was fourth in the field with 38 pars.
Junior McCoy Biagioli tied for 50th place at 13-over par 226 (74-78-74), closing on Wednesday with a 3-over par 74.
This was the fourth annual Folds of Honor Collegiate for the men's side. The tournament supports the Folds of Honor non-profit organization that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of US military service members and first responders who have fallen or been disabled while serving our country and communities.
Michigan State takes just a few days off this week and is back in action on Sunday (Sept. 14) at the Golf Canada Collegiate in MacTier, Ontario,Canada. The three-day, 54-hole tournament runs from Sunday, Sept. 14 to Tuesday, Sept. 16.
