MSU Women’s Tennis Team Earns Midwest Region ITA Community Service Award

Spartans recognized for their efforts in giving back to their community.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State women's tennis team was the recipient of the Midwest Region ITA Community Service Award, as part of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Region Awards, announced by the ITA on Tuesday.

The ITA Community Service award honors teams that give back to their campus and their community through tennis and non-tennis pathways.

Members of MSU's team participated in different MSU Athletics Breast Cancer Awareness activities, along with the MSU Student-Athlete Support Services' Food Drive, helping collect food donations, gathering and bagging up the food, and dropping off. They also participate in the SASS holiday gift wrapping events.

Their off-campus efforts include volunteering at McLaren Hospital and working with Happy Feet Pet Rescue.

The Spartan women's tennis team finished with a 13-11 overall record, going 5-8 in Big Ten play, with four of those being upset wins over ranked opponents, with three of the four ranked in the Top 50.
