Men’s Golf Tied for Eighth Place at Big Ten Championships

East Lansing, Mich. – Sophomore Lorenzo Pinili shot a 2-under par 68 in the second round and stands among the top-10 overall as Michigan State's men's golf team shot a 3-over par 283 and is in eighth place among 18 teams after the second day of play at the Big Ten Championships, being played at the Baltimore Country Club in Timonium, Md.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament, being played on the par-70, 7,240-yard course just outside of Baltimore, concludes on Sunday, April 27.
Illinois continues to lead the field at 8-under par 552 /(270-282). Oregon is in second place at 2-under par 558, with Indiana third at 1-under par 559, UCLA is fourth at even-par 560 and Minnesota and Ohio State round out the top-five teams at 1-over par 561.
The Spartans are in eighth place at 4-over par 564 (281-283), but just three strokes out of the top-five teams.
Pinili was at even-par through 16 holes on Saturday before posting birdies on the final two holes – the par-4, 442-yard 17th and the par-4, 488-yard 18th, respectively – to finish the day at 2-under par 68. He completed the second round with three birdies and 14 pars. Pinili is in a tie for ninth place at 2-under par 138 (70-68).
Sophomore Lucas Acevedo posted his second-straight round of 1-over par 71 and is tied for 24th place at 2-over par 142 (71-71). He finished his round with four birdies and 10 pars.
Junior Caleb Bond, who was tied for fourth place individually after a 3-under par 67 in the first round, finished with a 6-over par 76 and is tied for 32nd place at 3-over par 143 (67-76).
Freshman Julian Menser was one of two MSU players with a 1-over par 71 on Saturday, joining Acevedo, and is tied for 43rd place at 4-over par 144 (73-71).
Freshman Drew Miller is tied for 63rd place at 6-over par 146 (73-73).
