Michigan State Uses Late Run to Down Wisconsin, 69-65

MADISON, Wis. – Michigan State put four players in double figures, used a 15-6 run over the final 4:11 of the game and hit four free throws in the final 28 seconds to come back for a 69-65 win over Wisconsin at the Kohl Center on Tuesday night.

Graduate forward Joey Hauser led Michigan State with 20 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Jaden Akins scored 12 points, senior guard Tyson Walker finished with 11 points and junior guard A.J. Hoggard added 10 points, eight assists and four rebounds. Senior forward Malik Hall added eight points and five rebounds and junior forward Mady Sissoko scored six points with a game-high 11 rebounds.

Michigan State led at halftime, 33-31, but it was a back-and-forth second half with 10 lead changes and three ties.
The Badgers led for more than 13 minutes in the second half and were up five points, 59-54, after a hook shot from Steven Crowl with 4:11 to play.
That's when the Spartans took over, using a 7-0 run to take a 63-61 lead.
Hall hit a pair of free throws with 3:53 left, followed with a jumper at 3:05 and Hoggard fed Hauser for a 3-pointer with 2:20 left, giving MSU the lead and forcing a Wisconsin timeout.
The teams traded baskets and the game was tied at 63-all with less than a minute to play when Hoggard scored on a driving layup with 41 seconds left to give MSU the lead for good.
Hoggard hit a pair of free throws with 28 seconds left and Walker closed it out with two more with 12 seconds remaining to close out the win.
MSU went into the first half with a 33-31 lead using a 5-2 burst over the final 3:29, taking the edge after a 3-pointer from Walker with 32 seconds left.
