Colley Named to the Women’s Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List

The redshirt-senior guard is one of six Big Ten players on the initial watch list.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State redshirt-senior guard Shay Colley has been named to the Women's Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List, as announced on Wednesday by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
Colley is one of 50 players named to the initial watch list and one of six Big Ten players on the list. The candidates are vying for the 2020 Women's Player of the Year honor.
The midseason 30-player team will be announced in early February, with the competition then being narrowed down to 10 national semifinalists on March 3. The winner of the 2020 Citizen Naismith Trophy for Women's Player of the Year will be announced on April 4.
Last month, the Brampton, Ontario native also earned Preseason All-Big Ten honors for the second-straight season.
During the 2018-19 campaign, Colley led the Spartans and was 12th in scoring in the Big Ten, averaging 14.1 points per game. In earning All-Big Ten honors, Colley was tied for 11th in steals per game (1.6 spg) and sixth in free throw percentage (.794).
The Spartans began the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, Nov. 5 with an 85-50 win over Eastern Michigan. MSU continues play at home on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. against Detroit Mercy.
