Men’s Golf Opens Season With the Gopher Invitational

EAST LANSING -- The Michigan State men's golf team will begin the 2018-19 season this weekend at the Gopher Invitational in Independence, Minnesota. The two-day event at the Windsong Farm Golf Club will begin Sunday, Sept. 9 with 36 holes and wrap up on Monday with the final round. Additionally, three Spartans will take place in the Gopher Individual on Sunday and Monday at Pioneer Creek Golf Course.

Yardage: 7,368
Format: Stroke play, 54 holes
Schedule: Sunday – 36 holes beginning at 8:15 a.m. ET
Monday – 18 holes beginning at 8:15 a.m. ET
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Michigan State is making its sixth consecutive appearance in the Gopher Invitational, which annually features some of the nation's top teams. MSU was sixth in the 16-team field last season and Michael Sharp was the Spartans' top finisher, taking 18th place.
Zach Rosendale posted the best finish of his rookie season in what was his first tournament, taking third place in the 2017 Gopher Individual at 1-under-par 215.

THE COURSE
The Windsong Farm Golf Club, designed by the Fought-Lehman Golf Course Architecture firm, will again serve as home for this year's Gopher Invitational. The par-71 course opened in 2003.
