EAST LANSING --Â The Michigan State women's golf team will play its second tournament in as many weeks when it heads to Franklin, Tennessee, this weekend for the Mason Rudolph Championship, Sept. 21-23. The teams will play 18 holes each day with fixed tee times on holes one and 10 starting at 9:30 a.m. ET on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Michigan State is coming off a runner-up showing at the season-opening Mary Fossum Invitational last weekend at Forest Akers West. The Spartans finished two shots behind Virginia, which won the event with a tournament record 7-under-par 857. The Spartans' Allyson Geer-Park tied for medalist honors with a career and tournament record 9-under-par 207, and yesterday was named the Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Week.
The Course
The 54-hole tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,450-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course.
The Lineup
Michigan State will go with the same five players that played in last weekend's Mary Fossum Invitational: Ally Geer-Park, Paz Marfa Sans, Yurika Tanida, Valery Plata and Haylin Harris.
The Field
The Mason Rudolph Championship regularly features one of the top fields in the country and this year is no exception with seven of the 15 teams having ended last season in the Golfstat top 30. Here's the complete field, including each team's final 2018 Golfstat ranking:
Arizona State (10), Auburn (17), Charlotte (117), Chattanooga (75), Clemson (24), Houston (26), Louisville (28), LSU (66), Mercer (78), Michigan State (13), Middle Tennessee (83), Missouri (52), North Carolina (25), Vanderbilt (31) and Wake Forest (18).
Eight of the teams in the field (Michigan State, Auburn, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Arizona State, Louisville, North Carolina and Clemson) were in the Golfweek preseason top-30 poll.
