
Geer, Marfa Sans and Tanida on Big Ten Golfers to Watch List

EAST LANSING --Â Allyson Geer, Paz Marfa Sans and Yurika Tanida of the Michigan State women's golf team have been named to the Big Ten Golfers to Watch List, announced by the conference on Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Geer and Marfa Sans were key players in helping the Spartans to their second straight Big Ten championship last season as both were all-conference first team selections. Geer recorded the second lowest single-season average in school history at 71.61, while Marfa Sans posted the third-lowest at 72.29.

Geer, a junior from Brighton, was an honorable mention WGCA All-American last year and had six top-10 finishes, including taking runner-up honors in back-to-back tournaments (Allstate Sugar Bowl and Clemson Invitational).

Marfa Sans, also a junior from Barcelona, Spain, had three top-5 finishes and recorded the second-lowest rounds in school history with a pair of 64s in the fall.

Tanida saw action in seven tournaments last year as a rookie, including each of the last four. The native of Kanagawa, Japan, recorded a 75.75 average.

MSU begins the 2017-18 season by hosting the 35th annual Mary Fossum Invitational, Sept. 15-16 at Forest Akers West.
