EAST LANSING, MICH. - Michigan State Athletics and PNC Bank are partnering to recognize the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month. Throughout the 2018-19 season, deserving Spartan student-athletes will be recognized for displaying well-rounded achievement through leadership in the classroom, in the community, and in competition.
The honorees for November are Darrell Stewart Jr. (football) and Amanda Robinson (field hockey).
Stewart Jr. is a junior wide receiver from Houston, Texas, majoring in criminal justice. He has been active in the community during his time at MSU, volunteering at local elementary and middle schools. Last season, Stewart Jr. returned to his hometown during the team's bye week with 10 of his teammates to help volunteer with the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. On the field, he is second on the team with 24 receptions and third with 250 receiving yards so far this season, after finishing second on the team last season in all-purpose yards (813), receptions (50) and receiving yards (501).
Robinson, a senior from Mount Joy, Pa., is majoring in management. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, she has been involved in community efforts such as Athletes for Hope, and the Flint Recycling and Water Distribution. Robinson is currently a student ambassador for Aldi Corporation, after interning for them this summer. She just completed her collegiate playing career, having played in 72 games, starting 48, while anchoring the Spartan defense. This season, Robinson started all 20 games, tallying her first career goal in the Spartans' win over Quinnipiac.
