
Pair of Spartans Named WGCA All-America Scholars

EAST LANSING - Michigan State women's golfers Paz Marfa Sans and Katie Sharp have been named to the 2016-17 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar Division I Team, it was announced by the organization on July 5.
A total of 952 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with the minimum qualification being a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Sharp, a rising senior, finished 2016-17 with the team's third-best scoring average at 75.81. She had a total of five finishes in the top 20 with her best coming at the Big Ten Championships where she placed fifth. It marks the third consecutive year Sharp, a media and information major, has earned WGCA All-America Scholar honors.
Marfa Sans, a business major, appeared in every tournament for the Spartans as a freshman. She posted a 77.08 average with her best finish of the year â€" 10th â€" coming at the NCAA Athens Regional.
A total of 38 Spartan women's golfers have been named WGCA Scholar All-Americans during Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll's tenure as head coach.
