Spartans Wrap Up Mason Rudolph Championship in 13th Place

FRANKLIN, Tennessee - The Michigan State women's golf team concluded play in the Mason Rudolph Championship on Sunday in Franklin, Tennessee, shooting 21-over-par 309 on the final day. The Spartans finished their first tournament of the fall in 13th place with a 45-over-par 909 (301-299-309).
Junior Sarah Burnham, who went into Sunday's final round in a tie for second place, was forced to withdraw after six holes on Sunday due to injury.
Freshman Paz Marfa Sans was the Spartans' top finisher in the tournament, placing 44th. She shot a team best 4-over 76 on Sunday and was 9-over for the tournament (75-74-76--225)
Like Saturday, redshirt freshman Sybil Robinson improved on her score from the previous day, firing a team-leading 74 on Sunday. Her team-best three birdies on Sunday all came on the final nine holes. For the tournament, Robinson finished 12-over 228 (78-76-74), tying for 53rd place overall.
Junior Katie Sharp finished the tournament 20-over par with a 236 (80-79-77), tying for 71st. Sophomore Carolyn Markley shot a 24-over par 240 (79-79-82).
No. 3 Alabama won the tournament going away, finishing 39-under par (284-278-263) -- 43 strokes ahead of second place SMU.
The Spartans will be home next weekend as they host the 33rd annual Mary Fossum Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Forest Akers West. The 12-team tournament will begin on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
