Women's Tennis Coaches Win U.S. Open Qualifying Tournament

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's tennis head coach Simone Jardim and associate head coach Tyler Faulkner won the U.S. Open Midwest Qualifying Tournament in mixed doubles on Monday at the Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Michigan.
The U.S. Open Midwest Qualifying Tournament is part of the U.S. Open National Playoffs - a series of tournaments that gives any player 14 years of age or older who meets the eligibility requirements the opportunity to qualify for the 2015 U.S. Open. Sectional Qualifying Tournaments are held across 14 USTA Sections to include men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Tournaments began April 1 and run through July 4.
Jardim and Faulkner will now advance to the U.S. Open National Playoffs Championships in New Haven, Connecticut, at Yale University. The mixed doubles competition is slated for Aug. 26-29.
The winner of the mixed doubles championship will receive a wild card entry to compete in the 2015 U.S. Open Mixed Doubles Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center from Aug. 31-Sept. 15. Visit USOpen.org/NationalPlayoffs for additional information.
