Spartans in Third at Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Michigan State women's golf team is in third place after two rounds of the Lady Buckeye Invitational on Saturday at the Scarlet Course on the campus of Ohio State University. MSU had identical scores of 8-over-par 296 in the first and second rounds to sit at 16-over 592 through 36 holes, seven shots back of current leader Kent State (585) and four back of second-place Ohio State (588).
Both Gabby Yurik and Katie Sharp are tied for ninth place at 4-over 148. Yurik led the Spartans in the second round with an even-par 72 and carded a 76 in the first round. She had four birdies on the day.
Sharp matched her season-best round of 73 in the second round following her 75 on the first 18. She also had four birdies for the Spartans.
Alison Knowles shot her best round as a Spartan and led the team with a 72 in the first round after collecting five birdies. Knowles followed that effort with a 77 and is tied for 14th place at 5-over 149.
Lindsey McPherson produced the second-best round for the team in the morning with a 1-over 73 and is tied for 25th overall at 152 (73-79). McPherson had four birdies and an eagle in the first round.
Sarah Burnham carded an 80 in the first round, but bounced back with a counting team score of 74 in the afternoon. She is tied for 34th place at 154.
Jacqueline Setas is tied for 48th at 157 (79-78).
The third and final round of the Lady Buckeye Invitational will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start on Sunday. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
