Doubles Draw
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan State women's tennis' run through the ITA Midwest Regionals came to a close on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, with the duo of junior Athena Trouillot and freshman Davina Nguyen falling in the quarterfinals.
"We had a good tournament," said head coach Simone Jardim. "We are at a point now where we can beat a lot of good teams and believe that we are good. It is now time to get ready for spring. We are right there though after beating some good teams and players this fall."
After beating the top-ranked pairing in the bracket, Trouillot and Nguyen's journey ended with an 8-4 defeat to Eastern Michigan's Klara Supejova and Andrea Martinovska.
"I knew that we were capable of having this kind of success at this point, but it is a pleasant surprise to see Athena and Davina playing so well together," Jardim said. "Davina just really started to learn how to play doubles just a few weeks ago. It is mostly about finding two players that have good chemistry."
The Spartans' fall season has come to a conclusion. MSU opens dual match play on Jan. 16 against Eastern Michigan and Toledo in East Lansing.
