Spartans Tie for 11th Place at Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The Michigan State women's golf team tied for 11th place at the Mason Rudolph Championship after shooting a final round of 20-over-par 308 on Sunday at the Vanderbilt Legends South Course. Overall, the Spartans fired a 46-over 910 (310-292-308) in the prestigious 54-hole tournament, which featured six teams that qualified for the 2014 NCAA Championships.
Senior Lindsey McPherson and freshman Sarah Burnham both tied for 24th to lead the Spartans. McPherson entered the day in sixth place, but carded an 80 (+8) in the third round to close at 7-over-par (73-70-80--223). Burnham tied for the lowest score on Sunday for the Spartans with a 3-over 75 to also total 223 (76-72-75).
Junior Gabby Yurik equaled Burnham's round of 75 to finish at 11-over-par 227 (79-73-75) and tied for 39th place.
Freshman Jacqueline Setas tied for 69th (82-77-80--239) and senior Trisha Witherby tied for 80th (84-86-78--248).
As an individual, Mariah Massa tied for 77th (80-83-84--247).
Host Vanderbilt won the 15-team tournament by 11 shots over LSU with an even-par 864 (288-283-293).
The Spartans return to action Oct. 10-12 for the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
