FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The Michigan State women's golf team shot a 4-over 292 - tied for the third-lowest round of the day - in the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship Saturday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course.
The Spartans improved by 18 shots from Friday's first round (310) and moved into a tie for 11th place on the leaderboard in the 15-team field. Through 36 holes, the Spartans are 26-over-par at 602.
Senior Lindsey McPherson carded a 2-under 70 on Saturday and jumped into sixth place with a 1-under 143 (73-70). She trails leader Madelene Sagstrom of LSU by just three shots. McPherson, who carded five birdies in the first round, tallied four more on Saturday.
Freshman Sarah Burnham shot even-par 72 and is tied for 27th place with a 4-over 148. Junior Gabby Yurik fired a 73 (+1) and freshman Jacqueline Setas rounded out the team scoring with a 5-over 77. Yurik owns a two-round total of 152 (79-73), while Setas is at 159 (82-77).
As an individual, Mariah Massa is at 163 (80-83), and Trisha Witherby is at 170 (84-86).
