
Lindsey McPherson Finishes Runner-Up at Michigan Women's Amateur

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan State senior women's golfer Lindsey McPherson finished runner-up at the 98th Michigan Women's Amateur, which concluded Friday after a week of competition at the University of Michigan Golf Course.
McPherson won four matches in the 32-person match play bracket to reach Friday afternoon's championship match, but fell 2 & 1 in the final to Jennifer Elsholz of Grand Rapids, who will be a senior this upcoming season at Toledo.

McPherson tied for eighth in the stroke-play portion of the Michigan Women's Amateur with a 36-hole total of 150 (76-74). Rising junior Gabby Yurik (71-77--148, tied for fifth) and incoming freshman Jacqueline Setas (79-75--154, tied for 21st) also qualified for match play.
All three Spartans won their first-round match on Wednesday, and Setas edged Yurik in the second round, 1 up. Setas fell in the quarterfinals to Shannon After defeating Alicia Weber in the first round 5 & 4, McPherson beat Kelsey Murphy 2 & 1 in the second round and Hailey Hrynewich 3 & 2 in the quarterfinals. McPherson topped Warner 3 & 1 in the semifinals.
