
No. 24 Michigan State Falls At Indiana Wednesday, 70-51

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- Jenn Anderson scored 19, Tyra Buss grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds and Amanda Cahill had 13 points and 13 boards to lead Indiana women past No. 24 Michigan State 70-51 on Wednesday night.
Buss added 10 points for Indiana (11-2, 1-1 Big Ten), which held Michigan State to its lowest scoring output of the season, more than 22 points below its season average. Michigan State (8-5, 0-2) jumped out to a 7-2 lead, but the Spartans went scoreless over the next 6-plus minutes.
Six different players scored during the decisive 16-0 Indiana run over that stretch, including a layup by Alexis Gassion that gave the Hoosiers the lead, 8-7, for good.
Aerial Powers led MSU with 21 points and 12 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season, and added three assists, while Tori Jankoska netted 19 points, adding three steals.
Michigan State, which came into the game ranked 10th nationally in rebound margin (plus-11.8), was outrebounded, 49-34, including 15-6 on the offensive glass.
Becca Mills fouled out with just two points, more than nine fewer than her season average, for the Spartans.
Post-Game Notes
Wednesday's Michigan State starting line-up was the same as in the previous 12 games, consisting of sophomore guard Tori Jankoska, senior guard Anna Morrissey, freshman guard Jasmine Lumpkin, redshirt-sophomore forward Aerial Powers and senior forward Becca Mills ... Mills started for the 82nd time in her career, while Powers made her 46th career start and Jankoska started her 30th game of her career ... Morrissey and Lumpkin both made their 13th starts in a row of their careers.
Tori Jankoska has now scored in double figures in all 13 games this season and in 35 for her career ... Jankoska ended the game with 19 points.
This is the first time since the 2001-02 season that Michigan State has started Big Ten play 0-2.
Mills' two points give her 998 for her career, needing just two more to become the 23rd MSU player with 1,000 career points and first since Lykendra Johnson in 2011-12.
Powers posted her 10th double-double of the season and 20th of her career with 21 points and 12 rebounds Wednesday ... This was also the sixth game this season that Powers has scored at least 20 points.
Jankoska's three steals ties a season high as she also had a trio of steals against IUPUI (11/23).
Jankoska and Powers have netted double-digit points in all 13 games this season, as well as the 36th time in their careers with Jankoska's 19 points and Powers 21 on Wednesday.
Michigan State was out-rebounded, 49-34, for only the second time this season. The Spartans were also out-rebounded in a loss to Baylor, 36-35, (12/20).
MSU closes out the month of December 4-4, as the Spartans are now 159-92 in the month of December, as well as 42-22 under head coach Suzy Merchant, having won 14 of the last 23 games in the 12th month.
The Spartans are now 3-1 this season after a loss. During the Merchant era, Michigan State is 55-18 (75.3%) following a loss.
