Trailing 26-25 with 2:22 remaining in the first half, Matt Costello hit a layup that started a 26-0 Michigan State run. After a few free throws, the Bulldogs scored their first field goal of the second half with 8:48 left to stop a 36-4 MSU run. During the run, MSU held The Citadel without a field goal for 14:13 of game play, forcing 16 straight missed shots.
Matt Costello scored 13 points, marking the fifth straight game in double-figures for the junior forward.
