
Cheslik Earns Freshman of the Week Honors

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's soccer freshman Jamie Cheslik has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the Big Ten office Monday. This is the Northville, Michigan, native's first Big Ten honor of her career after beginning her college campaign by recording at least one point in nine of her first 14 games played.
Cheslik had a goal and an assist Sunday afternoon in the Spartans, 3-1 win against Nebraska. This was Michigan State's first Big Ten win of the season, improving their overall record to 6-5-1.
The freshman is currently the team's leading scorer with seven goals and 16 points. She is also tied for the Big Ten lead among freshman in goals and points, while being tied for sixth in overall goals.
Cheslik and the Spartans return to action Saturday, when they travel to West Lafayette, Indiana to take on Purdue (6-7-1, 2-6-0 B1G). Game time is set for 7 p.m., at Boilermaker Soccer Complex.
