Spartans Begin Action at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Michigan State women's golf team shot a 27-over-par 315 in the first round of the Landfall Tradition Friday at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course. The 18-team field, which includes 10 teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 25, is being held at the par 72, 6,159-yard Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course.
Freshman Sarah Burnham led the Spartans with 5-over 77 (38-39) and is tied for 63rd place on the individual leaderboard. Burnham was 2-over (38) through her first nine holes (No. 10-18), and finished 3-over (39) on holes 1-9 to total 77. She closed out her round with a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole.
Senior Lindsey McPherson (41-38) and junior Gabby Yurik (40-39) are tied for 79th after they each shot a 7-over 79.
In her first career round in the starting lineup, red-shirt freshman Katie Sharp fired an 80 (41-39). She led the team in the first round with three birdies.
Freshman Jacqueline Setas also shot an 80 (41-39).
MSU is currently tied for 17th place on the team leaderboard.
