Women's Golf Closes Fall Season at Landfall Tradition

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's golf team will be competing in its fourth and final tournament of the fall season this weekend (Friday-Sunday, Oct. 24-26) at the 13th annual Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, North Carolina. The 18-team field, which includes 10 teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 25, is being held at the par 72, 6,159-yard Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course.
In addition to host North Carolina-Wilmington, the challenging field features No. 28 Alabama, No.11 Arizona, No. 3 Duke, No. 21 UCF, No. 56 Florida, No. 62 Michigan State, No. 14 North Carolina State, No. 46 North Carolina, No. 39 Notre Dame, No. 23 Ohio State, No. 15 Oklahoma State, No. 55 Purdue, No. 108 Penn State, No. 1 South Carolina, No. 10 Tennessee, No. 18 Virginia and No. 16 Wake Forest.
MSU will tee off Friday for round one beginning at 10:09 a.m. along with No. 14 NC State and No. 10 Tennessee.
The Spartan lineup for this weekend will be junior Gabby Yurik, freshman Jacqueline Setas, senior Lindsey McPherson, freshman Sarah Burnham and red-shirt freshman Katie Sharp.
Yurik leads the team with 21 birdies and ranks second with a 75.89 scoring average through the first three tournaments. She tied her 54-hole career low with a 226 at the Tar Heel Invitational (Oct. 10-12) in MSU's last tournament.
Burnham and Setas, both true freshmen, have been in the starting lineup all year. Burnham leads the team with a 74.67 average, while Setas is fourth at 78.22. McPherson ranks third on the team in scoring average (76.56) and second in birdies (20).
This weekend will mark Sharp's first appearance in the starting lineup as a Spartan. She competed as an individual in the Mary Fossum Invitational and tied for 48th place with a 241 (76-82-83).
