
Christine Meier Wins Michigan Women's Amateur

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State rising senior Christine Meier defeated Hailey Hrynewich, 3 & 2, to win the 97th Michigan Women's Amateur at Walnut Hills Country Club Friday afternoon. Meier has won the event two of the past three years, as she also took home the title in 2011 at Prestwick Village Golf Club in Highland.
Earlier in the day, Meier topped Aya Johnson in the semifinals on the 18th hole. Meier also defeated Allyson Geer (3 & 1), Liz Nagel (20 holes) and Jacqueline Setas (20 holes) in match play earlier in the week.
In addition to Meier, Nagel, Bea Murray and Carley Saint-Ongle also advanced to the 32-person match play bracket.
