Spartans Tied for Ninth Place at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Michigan State women's golf team shot a 308 in the second round of the Landfall Tradition on Saturday and is tied for ninth place heading into Sunday's final round. The Spartans are 41-over-par at 617 (309-308) for the tournament, which features 14 teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 50, including nine in the top 25.
Senior Liz Nagel posted the best round of the day for the Spartans with a 2-over 74. She is currently tied for 21st place at 7-over 151 (77-74).
Junior Trisha Witherby, who led MSU on Friday with a 75, carded a 79 on Saturday and is tied for 33rd place at 10-over 154 (75-79).
Christine Meier is tied for 39th at 11-over 155 (77-78), while Kelly Grassel is tied for 58th at 14-over 158 (81-77).
Allyssa Ferrell shot a 79 on Saturday and is tied for 63rd place at 15-over 159 (80-79).
The third and final round of the Landfall Tradition is set for Sunday; live scoring will be available at golfstat.com. MSU will tee off from hole No. 7 at 8:45 a.m. along with Virginia and Oklahoma State.
