East Lansing, Mich. - The Big Ten announced on Monday (Sept. 12) that Olivia Stander and Courtney Clem garnered the Conference's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week award, respectively.
Stander had a hand in five of the six goals the Spartans scored last weekend in victories over Bowling Green (2-0) and UC-Santa Barbara (4-1), netting the game-winner in Friday's victory over the Falcons and adding two goals and an assist against UCSB.
Clem, starting in place of senior Jill Flietstra, helped MSU to two victories as she picked up her first career shutout on Friday with a three-save effort against Bowling Green. She made two stops against UCSB. They were her first two career starts, and this is her first Big Ten weekly honor.
MSU players have been honored with weekly awards in three of the four weeks of the season. Jill Flietstra was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29 and again on Sept. 5.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday, hosting Detroit at DeMartin Stadium at 5 p.m.
