Spartan Men's Golf Announces 2011-12 Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. - First-year head coach Casey Lubahn released the Michigan State men's golf 2011-12 schedule on Thursday. The Spartans begin the season by hosting the Fossum Invitational on Sept 3-4 at Forest Akers Golf Course.
MSU stays in the state for its second tournament, traveling to Ann Arbor for the Wolverine Invitational on Sept. 12-13. After a couple weeks off, the Spartans close out the month in Toledo for the Inverness Intercollegiate on Sept. 26-27.
Michigan State has two remaining tournaments on its fall schedule, heading south to the Rees Jones Invitational in Dafauskie Island, S.C. on Oct. 2-3, before taking part in the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Oct. 17-18 in Beallsville, Md.
The spring season begins with the Big Ten Match Play Championship on Feb. 10-11, held at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. The Spartans remain in the state of Florida for their next two tournaments, playing in the Seminole Intercollegiate on March 9-11 and the FAU Spring Break Classic on March 23-25. MSU closes out March at the Irish Creek Collegiate in Charlotte, N.C. on March 31-April 1.
In preparation for the Big Ten Championship, the Spartans play at two Big Ten opponents, teeing it up at the Hawkeye Invitational on April 14-15 and the Boilermaker Invitational on April 21-22. This year's Big Ten Championship will be held from April 27-29 on the Pete Dye course at the French Link Resort in French Lick, Ind. One of the top resorts in the country, the French Lick Resort will also host the women's championship that same weekend on the Donald Ross course.
The Spartans will look to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009, which begins with regional play on May 17-19. The 2011 NCAA Finals are set for May 29-June 2 at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif.
