
Michigan State Women's Golf Announces 2011-12 Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. - MSU head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll has announced the 2011-12 Spartan golf schedule for the upcoming season.
Michigan State first heads to College Station, Texas, to compete in the "Mo" Morial Invitational Sept. 11-13. The following weekend MSU heads home to host the 28th annual Mary Fossum Invitational Sept. 17-18 at Forest Akers West; MSU has won the event five of the last six years.
In October the Spartans will participate in the Lady Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., Oct. 7-9. Michigan State will then travel back to North Carolina to square off in The Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., Oct. 28-30 to close out the fall season.
The Spartans will open the spring season in Palos Verdes, Calif., to compete in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, Feb. 13-15. MSU then hosts the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla., Feb. 20-21; this will mark the 12th year of the event.
After spending a week in Florida for spring break, the Spartans will participate in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., March 30-April 1.
The Green and White then travel to Brown Summit, N.C., to compete in the Bryan National, April 6-8. Next up is the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, April 21-22. The Spartans won the 12-team Lady Buckeye Invitational last season by 17 strokes, as sophomore Caroline Powers led the way for MSU by capturing medalist honors.
The Big Ten Championships will be held April 27-29 at the French Lick Resort-Ross Course in French Lick, Ind. Michigan State claimed its ninth Big Ten title last season by five strokes over three-time defending champion Purdue.
NCAA Regional's will take place May 10-12, while the NCAA Championship will be hosted by the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., May 23-26.
